What information sources and/or apps did you use?
What suprises did you encounter along the way?
Can you take a 32 bit distro and just add in a 64 bit kernel or do all the apps have to be recompiled?

I looks like it wont let me post one after the next so I'll put this suggestion in here while I wait.
If you block all the tor addresses you will find your spam goes down a lot and you can loosen up some restrictions. Also I wonder if its really spam or just the man pushing you down :-)

You have to compile packages for each architecture, unless the nature of the package is multi-architecture.

In Debian packaging terms, generally a package coded as "all" is cross-architecture, is not architecture-specific, and will install on any architecture. A package coded as "any" will compile only for the architecture upon which your are compiling the package; in that case, you need to compile an amd64 package on an amd64 machine, an i386 package on an i386 machine, etc..

The other questions would be the subject of a long essay. ;)

I was considering creating my own distro with the same audience as UberStudent a few months ago. Shortly after I started looking into it, I found this distro. I still want to play with LFS to build confidence and experience.
