UberStudent 5.0 is delayed. Here's why:
This past November my 21-year-old son, Sam
, came home during a college break. He looked pale and complained of feeling weak. After a visit to the doctor the next day at my insistense and after being admitted to the hospital on the same day, he was diagnosed several days later with Accute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
. He began intensive treatments forthrightly and has had to drop out of college and move back home.
While my son has a long road ahead of him and a very good chance of being cured at his age
, his form of Leukemia requires intensely difficult treatments
. Over the next year or so, he requires several often all-day trips to the doctor each week, very close in-home monitoring and care, and additional trips to the hospital to deal with side effects from his treatments. Because I'm the parent in my household who has a flexible schedule plus a medical background
, this means that I have had to take on primary caretaker responsibilities for my son that displace the majority of my work opportunities.
This is personal information but I thought you needed to know what is going on behind the scenes of the UberStudent project at this time, especially since I had earlier promised a 5.0 release by January 2017. Any reported bugs in 4.0 may take a bit longer to fix, as well. I've asked UberStudent's Damion Lunin
to fill in slack in the UberStudent project overall and on the forums as he is able--he is incredibly smart, capable, and trusted. I also here request that more advanced UberStudent users please chip in to help newer UberStudent users here on the forums--thank you in advance.
I won't soften it: My son and our family as we see him back to health need financial help at this time. A friend of mine has set up a GoFundMe page for my son at Sam Ewen Leukemia Treatment Fund
. Please consider helping as you are able and please do feel free to share the GoFundMe page within your social circles.
Thank you for hearing me out, for your understanding, and thank you in advance for assisting in any way you can. Please know that the future of UberStudent remains strong and my commitment to it remains firm.
