Hello Uberstudent,

To get the distro become more tertiary education oriented & appealing to the students from technical background, I request the developers to integrate the following packages into the package repository or in the base packages.

1. sigrok & pulseview (http://www.cnx-software.com/2015/03/07/ ... ultimeter/)
These software are essential for logic analyzer. Often it is required to see what is going on over the serial communication bridge while debugging a digital circuit.
Sigrok is available in the ubuntu repo but the GUI pulseview is not.

2. eSim & other engineering tools (http://fossee.in/resources)
This set of software is developed & distributed by one of the most prestigeous institutes worldwide, IIT Bombay with the focus on FOSS philosophy. It includes a set of simulation & EDA tools for technology students.

On a different note
OpenSource softwares are getting more & more popular in the public sectors as well as in the education secor especially in the colleges & universities of India rapidly.

Mr. Richard Stallman has visited our country to encourage the youth & the university students towards the 'free software, free society' ideology. We need more visionaries & volunteers like him (professionally & philosophycally).

What we miss is a polished & completely education oriented distro to chose. A lot of top rated indian institues are willing to pay millions of dollars on FOSS only because of the "sharing is caring" philosophy. Because 'sharing' is the most important ingredient for building a responsible & noble society.

Edubuntu is too much generalised & a lot of primary education packages end up as bloatware. Fedora scientific has very few base packages. In India, internet availability is somehow restricted to the urban areas only, thats why a distro with more education oriented base packages is highly in demand. I believe Uberstudent is the most promising candidate for filling up the void.
