OK, this is weird. When I entered [all but 'wget'] it in browser got download of package 'apt_1.0.1ubuntu2.13_amd64.deb', and when I clicked to install it got:
Package: apt Status: Error: A later version is already installed.
Should I try to delete the installed one so this can replace it?

I suggest trying the later version of APT that is already installed. Run a find command to find the absolute path of apt-get, then use the absolute path found to execute apt-get to install the app that you are trying to import. (What comes up as a bash-completion will not be the executable.)

Thanks for the help as have repaired the "apt file" and all working fine, except the downloading of app from the "Unofficial Apache OpenOffice etc." repository -- although list among "additional repositories -- just keeps saying can't find it. So gave up on getting openoffice [64-bit] from deb site and instead used the download of the windows version and the app wine to get it working and is just fine [hate using anything from microass, but this was only option I could find].
Once again, thanks for all your efforts, and again sorry that this donation is also much less than your great os deserves.

Firstly, using Wine to isolate OpenOffice from LibreOffice is rather clever, and elegant in its simplicity. Secondly, take some comfort in knowing that neither the Windows version of OpenOffice nor Wine actually come from Microsoft; both OpenOffice and Wine are totally open source.
